September 27, 2003- Rosh Hashanah
Rosh Hashanah, the beginning of the Jewish New Year, is a time for celebration, feasting and wishing a good year to family and friends. Though we didn’t celebrate in traditional Jewish fashion, we did go out to dinner, something we rarely do together. From time to time, we will take a holiday and find a way to further celebrate it on our own. I did this with Rosh Hashanah, and only Heather will know how.

September 23, 2003- Fall Equinox
We wanted to do something ‘Summer-y’ to honor the end of summer, like go to the beach or play Frisbee. Unfortunately, I ran away from home on the eve of the Equinox. Not exactly how I wanted to embrace autumn, but sometimes these things happen unexpectedly. So, after I vented to Heather about how over-rated families were, we went to Katherine’s house to eat Chinese food and watch “Family Guy” episodes with Nikki.
Because I decided running away from home meant moving in with Heather for the night, we were actually together on the morning of the Equinox. (Technically, this means we had an Equinox Sleep-over). I had to work that day, so Heather sent me a fall e-greeting, and I sent her a poem. Don’t worry, we wouldn’t dream of letting all of the fabulous fall activities slip by us. Apple picking, bonfires, leaf peeping, hayrides and hiking are all in our future. Just you wait. Perhaps you’ll join us.
Autumn Night Music
Summer is waning;
nights are gaining.
Evening trees have lost their song.
Katydids, the last to strum,
are packing p and moving on.
Music lovers, don't despair!
Autumn tunes are in the air.
Just tonight I heard a breeze
practicing inside the trees.
There is music after summer
with a different kind of strummer!
